Thriving families are a cornerstone of a strong Minnesota. The Department of Children, Youth, and Families helps children, youth, and families connect to benefits and resources to thrive.

The department has programs that help families and individuals get the things they need, like cash, food and employment, so they can reach their full potential.

Family services
The department offers programs to support the whole family, allowing parents to work or attend school while children thrive as learners. These include child care, early learning, child support, safety services, family resources, and more.

Youth services
The department is focused on youth in the child welfare system and helping them to successfully transition to adulthood. Soon the department will also administer services for youth who are involved in both the child welfare and youth justice systems.
