Preschool Development Grant receives third year of funding
The Minnesota Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) has received its third and final year of funding for the Preschool Development Grant – Birth through Five Initiative. This year’s grant reflects an $8 million federal investment that will help Minnesota continue to improve the early childhood system.
In the next twelve months, DCYF will work with departments of Education, Health, Human Services and the Children’s Cabinet to support important services, such as recruiting more mental health professionals for young children, improving developmental check‑ups and home‑visiting programs, and strengthening statewide data systems that help agencies work together. Funding will also support the early childhood workforce through a telehealth benefits pilot, a coaching network, improvements to training materials, kindergarten transition supports, and a study of the workforce.
DCYF will also continue working closely with communities to ensure these efforts support Minnesota’s long‑term goals for children and families.
