Restorative Practices

Intro

The Office of Restorative Practices advances the use of restorative practices across a range of partnerships with community partners and systems, including pretrial diversion programs, delinquency and criminal justice, child welfare, education, and community violence prevention.

The office serves Minnesota's children, youth, and families.

Working alongside communities, the office strengthens solutions that already exist to repair harm, rebuild trust, and help Minnesota's children, youth, and families thrive. In partnership with schools, community programs, and system leaders, restorative practices are made available and supported across Minnesota.

Guided by the wisdom of youth, families, and communities, the focus is on creating safe, supportive spaces where people feel heard, relationships are valued, and healing is possible.

Restorative Practices Advisory Committees

Restorative Practices Advisory Committees guide and expand restorative practices across communities, schools, courts, and justice systems.

They use restorative approaches to make decisions, set referral and referral-process criteria, and review or propose initiatives and grants. Committees recruit and train diverse members, may use grants for per diem support, meet regularly, provide annual training, and notify the Office of Restorative Practices about meetings and funding decisions reached by consensus.
