Paths to Parenthood

Intro

Parenthood is rewarding, exciting, and beautiful – it's also a massive responsibility.

Minnesota's Child Support Division created the Paths to Parenthood program to educate teens and young adults about the financial, legal, and emotional responsibilities of parenthood. The program focuses on youth and young adults 16 to 25 years old who are incarcerated, involved in the justice system, or are facing adverse or traumatic circumstances.

The division invites the public to register and attend a webinar to learn more about the program on:

Child support staff work closely with parents and through this process they gain insight into what people may or may not have learned before becoming a parent and the challenges they face once they become parents.

While young people have access to career counselors in school and other venues, there often isn’t a similar resource to help them decide if or when parent is right for them. Paths to Parenthood helps to fill that gap.
