Report a concern at a child care program

What to report

If a child is in immediate danger, call 911. If the child is not in immediate danger, use the numbers below to reach the appropriate agency. 

For concerns in a child care setting related to: 

  • Suspected maltreatment, abuse, or neglect 
    • For licensed or certified child care centers: Call the DCYF Intake Unit at 651-539-8222.
    • For family child care: Call the licensing agency in the county or Tribal Nation where the child lives.
  • Health or safety of children in a program, including concerns about supervision, ratios, medical response, and cleanliness 
    • For licensed or certified child care centers: Call the Licensor on call at 651-431-6015 or email DCYF.ccc.licensing@state.mn.us.
    • For family child care: Call the licensing agency in the county or Tribal Nation where the child lives.

Other reports

To report suspected abuse, neglect or maltreatment occurring outside of a child care program, call the child protection agency in the county or Tribal Nation where the child lives.

Vulnerable adults: Report suspected abuse, neglect, or financial exploitation of a vulnerable adult to the Minnesota Adult Abuse Reporting Center (MAARC) at 844-880-1574. Learn more about reporting suspected maltreatment of vulnerable adults.
