What to report

Suspected maltreatment, abuse, or neglect 

• Licensed or certified child care centers: Call the DCYF Intake Unit at 651-539-8222. 
  • Learn how we review and investigate maltreatment reports.
• Family child care: Call the licensing agency in the county or Tribal Nation where the child lives.

Health or safety concerns

Includes concerns about supervision, ratios, medical response, and cleanliness.

• Licensed or certified child care centers: Call the Licensor on call at 651-431-6015 or email DCYF.ccc.licensing@state.mn.us.
• Family child care: Call the licensing agency in the county or Tribal Nation where the child lives. 

Mandated reporters 

Child care providers and center staff are required to report suspected child abuse or neglect. DCYF provides resources for mandated reporters and information about maltreatment investigations. 

Report fraud

If you suspect fraud by someone receiving benefits or by child care providers involving programs funded by DCYF, you can:

• Submit a tip through our Fraud Reporting tip form.
• Call the Fraud Reporting hotline at 651-539-8211 (Toll-free: 1-833-454-0155).
• Email your report to DCYF.oig.ccaptips@state.mn.us.

Other reports

To report suspected abuse, neglect or maltreatment occurring outside of a child care program, call the child protection agency in the county or Tribal Nation where the child lives.

Vulnerable adults: Report suspected abuse, neglect, or financial exploitation of a vulnerable adult to the Minnesota Adult Abuse Reporting Center (MAARC) at 844-880-1574. Learn more about reporting suspected maltreatment of vulnerable adults.
