Title

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Reporting Requirements

Intro

Households participating in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) must report their income and expenses to their county or Tribal Nation eligibility worker at application and recertification/renewal. Changes that occur after an application for SNAP is approved may affect the amount of benefits a case receives.

There are two types of reporting requirements: Change Reporting and Six-month Reporting. A SNAP household's approval notice will indicate what type of reporting requirements they must follow.

Households will receive a renewal form in the mail. Households should answer all the questions to ensure their benefits are determined correctly. During the certification period, households should report the changes to their eligibility worker according to their reporting requirements.

Changes that may positively impact benefits for all reporting types, but are not required

Households may report other changes that impact your SNAP case, but are not required to do so. Some of the following changes may positively impact your SNAP benefits if reported:

  • Increase in child support, medical or daycare expenses
  • Any other change that results in a decrease of income (ex. loss of worker compensation, unemployment, child support, etc.)
  • Change in medical expenses for certain households
  • Change in disability status.
