Shaneen Moore
Dr. Shaneen Moore is the Assistant Commissioner for the Family Well-Being administration at the Minnesota Department of Children, Youth, and Families.
- Responsible for policies and programs that elevate a safety net of resources available to families in Minnesota.
- Prioritizes programs such as the Minnesota Family Investment Program, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, emergency assistance programs and support for the state’s child support programs.
Moore was named the deputy assistant commissioner of the Child Support Division at the Minnesota Department of Human Services in 2021. She previously served as the agency’s Child Support director. Moore has always been interested in the needs of children and their families, and she believes diversity, equity and inclusion are critical elements in progressing the work of human service transformation, program service delivery and public policy development toward eliminating disparities.
Moore graduated with her Ph.D. in Management and Public Service from Hamline University. She earned her Master’s in Business Administration and her Bachelor’s of Business in Business Administration degrees from Western Illinois University. Her dissertation, “Minnesota’s Path to Prosperity: A Single Case Study Examining the Evolution of Children’s Programs and the Birth of the Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) – Implications for the Well-being of Minnesota Families,” delves into the possibilities of restructuring children’s programs, with a specific focus on the establishment of the new department.
