The Office of Economic Opportunity at the Minnesota Department of Children, Youth, and Families oversees the SNAP Outreach program and partners with community organizations that deliver SNAP Outreach services across communities in Minnesota. SNAP is federally funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Food and Nutrition Services.  

SNAP Outreach partners and activities

In Federal Fiscal years 2023 to 2025, twenty-nine hunger relief and culturally specific organizations are contracted with DCYF to provide SNAP Outreach in Minnesota. Outreach efforts are designed to reach priority groups such as older adults and persons with disabilities, veterans, and students. There is a strong emphasis on equity. SNAP Outreach Specialists are available to assist in all 87 counties.

SNAP outreach specialists are an important bridge between SNAP benefits and eligible households. Their activities include community engagement, presentations, training and dissemination of information to extend their reach across Minnesota.
