Youth Intervention Grants

Intro

Youth Intervention Programs (YIP) provide an ongoing stable funding source to community-based early intervention programs for youth and their families. Grantees serve youth who are experiencing personal, familial, educational, legal or chemical problems. 

Funded by the state, YIP vary in duration, intensity and services offered. Many YIPs serve culturally specific populations or employ gender specific services.

Programs provide a variety of services for youth including: 

  • Literacy and academic assistance
  • Truancy prevention
  • Behavioral interventions, counseling and mentoring
  • Juvenile justice system diversions and restorative justice
  • Afterschool activities
  • Career exploration and life skills classes
  • Emergency youth shelter 

Grant reviewers sought

Community members are needed to evaluate applications for a variety of competitive grants we implement throughout the year. When possible, the Office of Justice Programs (OJP) will offer an honorarium to reviewers who fully complete the process.

Next funding round 

The next open Request for Proposal period for 2-year YIP grants is tentatively set for June 2027 for projects tacking place in calendar years 2028 and 2029. More information will be posted here when available.
